The goal of integrating technology in the home environment is not to automate all tasks that were previously carried out by residents or care staff. The objective is to provide tools and services that support and enable people to address their social, rational and emotional needs.
In our design philosophy, products and services should support people in dealing with real world problems, be intuitive to use, and adapt to the user’s needs and context of use.
With the rise of ambient intelligence, the technology fades into the background and the user is placed in the centre. Even though the technology is invisible, it can have a huge impact on the lives of people. ATEL developed a model that takes into consideration the consequences of technology in the iterative design process.
